One year ago, Priyanka and her family were trapped in a cycle of poverty. Her mother struggled to make ends meet by working at nearby farms. Priyanka and her sister would wake up at 5 am and walk hours to collect water for their family.
Today, Priyanka is attending school rather than walking hours to collect water. A rainwater harvesting tank provides her family with clean water. Her mother is growing wheat and millet for income using water from a Khadin (farming dyke). Priyanka’s mother has also planted a kitchen garden for nutrition. As a result, Priyanka no longer falls sick from water borne diseases and is eating more green vegetables. In the past, Priyanka could not have imagined that she would be able to go to school. Priyanka is determined to make the most of this opportunity.
OneProsper ensures that each girl gets the support she needs to attend school. She and her family receive:
- A rainwater harvesting tank
- Training in sustainable farming
- Seeds to grow food and cash crops
- Tuition and school supplies
- A bicycle to take her to and from school
