Pushpa

Today Pushpa is able to read her textbook with confidence.  Her eyes sparkle as she talks about her school. Pushpa’s life has been transformed during the past year.

Previously, Pushpa would wake up at 5 am and then walk hours to provide her family with water.  She frequently suffered stomach pains from drinking dirty water.  Today her family has clean water thanks to a brand new rainwater harvesting tank and biosand filter.  After school, Pushpa helps to grow fruits and vegetables in the family kitchen garden.  She also help to grow millet and wheat on their farmland.  A newly built Khadin (farming dyke) provides water for the family’s crops.

Puspha plays cricket with her sister after school. Pushpa loves drawing and sewing.  She hopes to become a fashion designer one day.
