Pushpa

In the past, Pushpa and her sister would make long treks across the desert in scorching heat to collect water for their family.   Pushpa would frequently face heat stroke from the intense heat.  At home, Puspha would often suffer from water borne disease from drinking dirty water.

Today, Puspha’s family has clean water thanks to their brand new rainwater harvesting tank.  Puspha and her sister are now enrolled in school.  She and her sister commute to school on brand new bicycles.  The family’s health has improved as a result of drinking clean water.  Pushpa’s  mother is now earning extra income by growing wheat and millet on her own farmland.  A new Khadin (farming dyke) provides water for irrigation.  Pushpa’s mother has also planted a kitchen garden for nutrition.

Pushpa is grateful for the gift of education.  She could not have imagined that she would be able to go to school.  Pushpa’s goal is to become a doctor and work for the betterment of people living in rural communities.
