Nikita

Today, ten year old Nikita’s life is filled with books.  She rides her brand new bicycle to school and helps her mother to grow crops after school.

One year ago, Nikita could not have imagined going to school.  She would walk several hours per day to collect water for her family. Thanks to a brand new rainwater harvesting tank, her family has clean water.  Her mother has setup a kitchen garden next to the rainwater harvesting tank and has planted grains on her farmland.  Water from a Khadin (farming dyke) irrigates her fields.

As a result, Nikita and her family have clean water, nutritious food and increased income.   Nikita is very happy to receive the opportunity to complete her education.  She would like to become a teacher and work in her village after graduation.
