The Vision and The Past
“A memo from the founder of the student initiative”
Within the past 8 months of establishing the Student Advisory Board, we were able to engage students in Global Citizenship across Canada. 8 clubs were established in Canadian high schools and universities; 2 clubs in high school and 2 clubs in University are in the process of setting-up as well. We have had the opportunity to speak to the student body in events such as volunteer fairs and classrooms.
Through the organization of two events, Mark for A Cause and Run for A Cause, we were able to raise approximately $2000 for Southern Indian farmers. That’s enough to support about 5 families. Currently, the student advisory board consists of high-school students from Ontario and British Columbia as well as university students from Ontario. For next year, we have created a year-round campaign called “I AM THE CHANGE” that’s aimed to fund-raise $100 000 by engaging 3000 student in order to support 250 families, a village of farmers. At the same time, we will aim to speak in different events, schools and attract media attention in order to gain momentum and educate students from every province and around the world to join this social movement and end world hunger.
