Empower Women to Break the Cycle of Poverty

Our Model

1. Women beneficiaries receive drip irrigation kit + rainwater harvesting tank

2. Grow Vegetables

3. Increase family nutrition and sell surplus for income

4. Repay a portion of the cost into a revolving microfinance fund

The Impact

Women and girls in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, India walk 5-7 hours per day to collect water. Rainwater harvesting tanks open educational opportunities for girls and enable women to engage in income generating activities.

Drip irrigation is an innovative farming method that enables women to grow more vegetables while conserving water. As a result, Women increase their family nutrition and earn sustainable livelihoods from selling their surplus.

Basanti is a small farmer in Hopardi Village, Rajasthan. She lives with her husband, children and in-laws. Basanti grows vegetables during the monsoon season but had never attempted to grow crops during the dry season due to water scarcity.
